Petition for Additional Discovery in IPRs Granted In-Part

November 7, 2014 – In an inter partes review filed by Medtronic against two Robert Bosch Healthcare Systems’ patents, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board partially granted Bosch’s motion for limited additional discovery into whether Cardiocom, a recently-acquired Medtronic subsidiary, was the real party in interest behind Medtronic’s petitions. The Bosch patents at issue are 7,769,605, titled, “Multiple patient monitoring system for proactive health management,” and 7,870,249, titled, “Networked system for interactive communication and remote monitoring of individuals.” The cases are IPR nos. 2014-00488 and -00607.
