Citizen’s Petition to Allow Bleach in Mouthwash

November 25, 2014 – TSR Medical petitioned the FDA to find that its mouthwash is safe and effective as an over-the-counter mouthwash, and permit TSR Medical to market it to the public. TSR Medical’s mouthwash contains the ingredient, “active chlorine dioxide 0.8% / 35 ppm” (also known as acidified sodium chlorite). The company asks the FDA to determine this ingredient is “generally recognized as safe and effective (“GRASE”).” Chlorine dioxide is an ingredient in some bleaches.
