GE Files complaint for declaratory judgment of non-infringement directed to CubeTM imaging product

December 9, 2014 – General Electric filed suit against the University of Virginia seeking a judgment declaring that its magnetic resonance imaging systems containing 3D fast spin echo sequence technology (known as CubeTM) do not infringe two University of Virginia patents. The patents-at-issue are U.S. Patent Nos. 7,164,268 and RE44,644, both entitled “Method and Apparatus for Spin-Echo Train MR Imaging Using Prescribed Signal Evolutions.” The case is pending in the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and is captioned General Electric Co. v. University of Virginia Patent Foundation d/b/a University of Virginia Licensing & Ventures Group, 14-cv-01529.
