Judge denies second contempt motion by Catheter Connections, Inc.

January 12, 2015 – United States District Court Judge for the District of Utah, Central Division, Tena Campbell, denied a motion for civil contempt brought by Plaintiff, Catheter Connections, Inc. in the pending case Catheter Connections, Inc. v. Ivera Medical Corp., Civil Action No. 2:14-cv-70-TC (D. Utah 2014).  The litigation relates to infringement by Ivera Medical of Catheter Connection’s U.S. Patent No. 8,641,681, entitled “Disinfecting Caps for Medical Male Luer Connectors.”  Both companies market medical devices that are disinfectant caps incorporated into intravenous lines that deliver fluids and drugs to patients.  Catheter Connections is currently marketing its product as DualCap; Ivera markets its product as Curos Tips.
