Fitbit Sues Jawbone in Delaware over Fitness Trackers with Heart Rate Monitors

October 30, 2015—Plaintiff, Fitbit, Inc., filed a complaint alleging that Defendants, AliphCom d/b/a Jawbone and BodyMedia, Inc., are infringing patents that cover its popular health tracking devices. The three patents-at-issue are U.S. Patent No. 8,868,377 entitled “Portable monitoring devices and methods of operating same;” U.S. Patent No. 8,920,332 entitled “Wearable heart rate monitor;” and U.S. Patent No. 9,089,760 entitled “System and method for activating a device based on a record of physical activity.” The complaint was filed in the District of Delaware and is captioned Fitbit, Inc., v. Aliphcom d/b/a Jawbone and BodyMedia, Inc., 1-99-cv-de699.
