July 15, 2016 – Kaz USA, Inc. filed petitions for the institution of inter partes review (“IPR”) of two of Exergen Corp.’s patents, U.S. Patent Nos. 7,346,386 and 9,194,749. The patents are both titled “Temporal Artery Temperature Detector,” and relate to a device for detecting a core body temperature based on a model of heat balance relative to a sensed skin surface temperature. The IPR petitions are pending before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, IPR2016-01436 and IPR2016-01437.
