Complaints filed by Snyders Heart Valve LLC against St. Jude Medical and Medtronic

On October 25, 2016, Snyders Heart Valve LLC (“Plaintiff”) filed complaints against St. Jude Medical, Cardiology Division, Inc., St. Jude Medical S.C., Inc. and Medtronic, Inc. et al. (“Defendants”).  In the complaints, the Plaintiff is asserting infringement of U.S. Patent Nos. 6,821,297 (“the ‘297 Patent”), 6,540,782 (“the ‘782 Patent”), 6,095,968 (“the ‘968 Patent”), 5,256,132 (“the ‘132 Patent”), 5,169,381 (“the ‘381 Patent”), and 4,690,134 (“the ‘134 Patent”).  The ‘297 Patent, the ‘782 Patent, the ‘968 Patent, the ‘132 Patent, the ‘381 Patent, and the ‘134 Patent are all assigned to the Plaintiff and are drawn to artificial heart valves, reinforcement devices, cardiac assist envelopes and/or ventricular assist devices.  The Plaintiff is asserting that the Defendants are infringing the asserted patents by making, using, importing, providing, supplying, distributing, offering for sale, and/or selling one or more artificial valve products, including (i) the Portico Valve and the Portico Transfemoral Delivery System of St. Jude et al. and (ii) the CoreValve products of Medtronic et al..  The cases remain pending and are captioned 2-16-cv-812 and 2-16-cv-813, respectively.
