Court Grants AngleFix’s Motion to Join the University of North Carolina as Co-plaintiff

November 17, 2016 — On November 15, 2016, the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee granted Plaintiff AngleFix Tech, LLC (“AngleFix”) and Third Party Intervener the University of North Carolina (UNC) their Joint Motion to join UNC as a co-plaintiff.  The Court denied the motion filed by Defendant Wright Medical Technology (“Wright”), in which Wright argued that UNC could not now rescind its Waiver of Claims (“Waiver”) against Wright.  Earlier in the case, AngleFix had unsuccessfully moved to use the Waiver as a substitute for joinder.

The patent-at-issue is U.S. Patent No. 6,955,677, entitled, “Multi-angular Fastening Apparatus and Method for Surgical Bone Screw/Plate Systems.”  The case is captioned AngleFix Tech, LLC v. Wright Medical Technology, Inc., 2-13-cv-02407.
