On February 12, 2018, Medtronic, Inc. (“Petitioner”) filed two Petitions to the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (“Board”) for inter partes reviews of various claims of U.S. Patent No. 6,638,268 (“the ‘268 Patent”). The ‘268 Patent is owned by Niazi Licensing Corporation and is drawn to catheters used to introduce devices, such as pacing leads, into the vasculature of the heart. In each of the Petitions, Petitioner alleges that various claims are anticipated and/or obvious under 35 U.S.C. §§ 102 and/or 103 over various patent documents. The inter partes reviews remain pending at the Board and are captioned IPR2018-00609 and IPR2018-00610, respectively.
